Community Service Learning
[http://ginsberg.umich.edu/courses/service_learning.html]At the University of Michigan, dozens of courses integrate community service and learning across many departments, schools, and colleges. Service-learning is a pedagogical model that intentionally integrates service with the community, academic learning, and civic learning (knowledge, skills, and values that prepare students for active community participation). The community service informs the student learning, and the learning informs the community service. Below are some examples of service-learning across the curriculum.
Law School Public Service Office

It also has information on the Law School's pro bono program, job listings, and public service resources. The Public Service office is a career counseling center for for law students and alumni who are interested in pursuing a career in public interest law.
Michigan Electronic Library
[http://www.lib.umich.edu/govdocs/michleg.html]The Library of Michigan, with the participation of Michigan libraries across the state, has created an Internet information service called The Michigan Electronic Library to serve the state and its citizens. The Michigan Electronic Library makes available information resources critical to the citizens of our state. It also collects resources from all over the world in all areas of human endeavor. A sampling of the resources made available include: Michigan County Economic Profiles, U.S. Census data for the State of Michigan, data from the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Bulletin Board, links to online catalogs for libraries around the world, the Consumer Price Index, information about Michigan's state government, and links to thousands of other Internet resources arranged in a user-friendly way.

[http://mirlyn.lib.umich.edu]Mirlyn, the library catalog of the University of Michigan, is the principal gateway to the collections--both print and electronic--of the University Library, Bentley Historical Library, Clements Library, and the UM-Flint Thompson Library. Mirlyn records span all formats of knowledge resources from books, journals, film, sound recordings, musical scores, maps, and archives to the growing collection of electronic texts and other digital formats.

Community of Science Faculty Expertise Database
[http://expertise.cos.com]The Community of Science (COS) Expertise Database currently contains over 55,000 released common-format, first-person profiles of faculty researchers and their interests and expertise. It is built in direct collaboration with over 200 leading research universities, government agencies, and other R&D organizations. This database is an invaluable resource for research-driven companies to identify prospective collaborators, license new technologies, leverage their existing R&D effort, perform due diligence, and generally stay informed about the constantly-changing world of basic science and academic research.
Council of Michigan Foundations
[http://www.cmif.org/]The Council of Michigan Foundations is a nonprofit membership association of private, community, and corporate foundations and giving programs in Michigan. Its mission is to increase, enhance, and improve philanthropy through continuing education programs, technological assistance, access to the latest information on philanthropic issues and research, and advocacy on behalf of all grant makers. CMF also works to educate and inform others about Michigan philanthropy through seminars and CMF publications. Its Library, housed in its main office in Grand Haven, holds more than 3,500 publications on current philanthropic issues and is open to the public.
Great Lakes Information Network (GLIN)
[http://www.great-lakes/net/]The Great Lakes Information Network, or GLIN, is a cooperative project of agencies and organizations to provide one place for people to find information relating to the binational Great Lakes region. Topics include education, the economy and environment, tourism, news, events and weather.
Michigan Sea Grant
[http://www.miseagrant.umich.edu/]Michigan Sea Grant, a joint program of the University of Michigan and Michigan State University, is part of the NOAA-National Sea Grant network of 30 university-based programs. Michigan Sea Grant promotes knowledge of the Great Lakes through education, research and outreach.
