Program Title:

Community Service Learning in Language, Education & Culture

Description:

Students participating in ELI 390/Linguistics 385 will engage in (and, if necessary, be trained for) a service project. Though projects will vary from term to term, they may usually be expected to involve either one on-one tutoring (in literacy, English as a Second Language, or linguistics, for instance) or small group teaching outside the University, or some mix of these. An example of projects students might be involved in include: working in a community language or literacy program, teaching migrant ESL classes, coordinating conversation circles for international students on campus, teaching assistants in on campus ESL programs for university children.
